Alison Sweeney Leaving Biggest Loser After Eight Years

The Biggest Loser is losing one of its biggest stars. Longtime host Alison Sweeney, who joined the franchise in Season 4, is leaving after eight years, producers confirm to Us Weekly.

"After an incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as host of The Biggest Loser next season," the show said in a statement to Us on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

The Days of Our Lives actress, 38, first made her debut on the reality weight-loss competition in 2007. She took over for Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Caroline Rhea, who hosted the first three seasons from 2004 to 2006.

Since joining the NBC series, Sweeney has led 13 seasons, including The Biggest Loser: Couples, The Biggest Loser: Families, The Biggest Loser: Battle of the Ages, and The Biggest Loser: No Excuses. Her most recent stint as host was during Season 16's The Biggest Loser: Glory Days. 

According to Variety, Season 17 of the show is scheduled to start shooting this fall. A replacement for Sweeney has not yet been named.
