Publish date: 2024-05-25

Really, really, ridiculously good-looking! Ben Stiller is back in his Derek Zoolander duds as filming for the upcoming Zoolander sequel is officially underway.

The veteran actor and director, 49, is giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the long-anticipated flick, sharing photos via Instagram from the first days of production at the historic Cinecitta Studios in Rome, Italy. Stiller posted a selfie on Tuesday, April 7, staring into the camera as preparations are made behind him.

“First day of shooting down!” he captioned the shot. “#Zoolander2 #Cinecitta #Finallymakingthismovie!”

On Monday, April 13, Stiller made a big introduction, posting the first photo of his character Derek Zoolander’s son.

The Tropic Thunder actor breaks out his trademark Blue Steel look for the image, pursing his lips and drawing his cheeks in as he poses in a red convertible. With his brunette locks coiffed to perfection, Stiller wears black Ray-Ban sunglasses, driving gloves, and a layered dark blue outfit complete with an ascot.

Riding shotgun is young actor Cyrus Arnold, who is taking on the role of Zoolander’s child. The child actor, who previously appeared on Nickelodeon’s Sam & Cat, mirrors Stiller’s style in a suit with a printed tie and pocket square.

“Meet @cyrusarnold. Son of Derek. #Zoolander2,” Stiller wrote. While few details have been made public about his character, Arnold went on to regram Stiller’s photo, adding a caption reading, “It’s out!!! I am playing Ben Stiller’s son in “Zoolander 2″!! So happy to share the news with all of you!! #zoolander2 #derekjr.”

The character of Zoolander’s son, Derek Zoolander, Jr., made a quick appearance in the original 2001 comedy. At the end of the celebrated movie, the male model finally establishes his Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can’t Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too, and his wife Matilda (real-life wife Christine Taylor) comes to visit him with their baby. The little one, originally played by Mason Webb, inherits his father’s modeling skills and shows off his first look in the movie.

Taylor, 43, is expected to star alongside Stiller in the upcoming Zoolander 2. Due out in February 2016, the sequel will also feature the iconic Hansel (Owen Wilson) and Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell).
