Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow Have Girls' Night Out
Bye, Benji — but just for the night! Newlywed Cameron Diaz had fun during a girls’ night out with BFFs Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lake Bell, Polly Draper, and new sister-in-law Nicole Richie on Monday, Feb. 2. The gorgeous gals dressed casually as they grabbed a bite to eat at Katsuya restaurant in L.A.’s Studio City neighborhood, and were later spotted leaving for the night.
Mrs. Madden, 42, led the way as she and her A-list pals (all without makeup!) were escorted to their cars. The Annie actress wore jeans and a navy Fair Isle sweater coat, and showed off her huge diamond wedding ring. Barrymore followed suit in an orange peacoat. Paltrow, meanwhile, donned leather pants and metallic-colored sneakers, while Richie coordinated in black with a leather jacket and leopard print flats.

Us confirmed last month that Diaz and Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden married at her lavish Beverly Hills pad on Jan. 5, and recently returned from their honeymoon in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. At their wedding, Barrymore and Richie served as her bridesmaids. (Richie, 33, who’s married to Benji’s twin brother Joel Madden, originally set the couple up!)
Days after the nuptials, Paltrow, 42, gushed about the new bride during an interview with Howard Stern. “I have some famous friends. And I have mostly not famous friends,” the Oscar winner said. “My best famous friend is Cameron Diaz.”

As for Diaz? She’s close to all, but she and Barrymore go back the furthest. Back in July, she even cut an interview short with KIIS 106.5’s hosts Kyle and Jackie O when the topic of Barrymore’s past “drug years” came up.

In January 2013, Barrymore opened up about her friendship with Diaz. “She was 16 and I was 14 when we became friends. We were both L.A. kids. I worked in a coffeehouse, and she was a model. I served her a coffee, and we had mutual friends, and we just knew each other from around town,” the former child star, 39, told Katie Couric at the time.
“I will say this about her — she was always kind. Someone who looks like that, they could have an attitude, and she was the opposite. She was friendly and goofy and really nice,” she continued. “So when we got older and our lives had taken very different directions, I called her up and said, ‘I have this amazing idea. I know exactly how I wanna do it. It’s Charlie’s Angels. Come play with me!’ And she said yes! And then we just went on some of the best years of our lives.”
