Hilary Duff Delays Release of Comeback Album After "Chasing the Sun"

Schedules are so yesterday! Hilary Duff announced on Friday, Aug. 29, that she is delaying the release of her 2014 comeback album. 

The singer, 26, took to Twitter to give an update on the project.

"Guys hate to break this news but the album won't be out in October…" she wrote. "You will have to wait a few more months. Love all the excitement tho." 

The anticipation for the upcoming fifth studio album follows Duff's release of two new singles. The Lizzie McGuire alum debuted the poppy "Chasing the Sun" in July, and introduced "All About You" earlier this month. 

Duff gave no explanation for the delay of her new music. When it does finally hit stores, the album will be the first for the "Come Clean" singer since 2007's Dignity. 

"The album is very positive," she told Billboard earlier this month. "It's very up, but it does talk about… there's a song called 'If I Fall,' which is about me taking a step back and kind of shutting down my whole business, and everyone not believing in me and me being really scared to be alone after I'd been surrounded by 100 people for five years of my life."

The former teen star took a step back from her busy schedule with the 2012 birth of her and husband Mike Comrie's son Luca. In recent months, she picked up more projects, working on her forthcoming album and booking a role in the new TV Land series Younger, which will debut this fall.

Duff's new music follows an intense period in her personal life, as she and Comrie announced their separation this past January. In the months since, they have remained amicable, spending time together and co-parenting their son. 

"[There's] a song about my separation and my love for this person that maybe we're not meant to be together, or maybe we are," she continued to Billboard about her album and Comrie. "I mean, it's very, very personal, but I would say that it has a happy spirit to it, which is me."
