Zelda Williams Takes Social Media Break Before Robin Williams' B-Day

Remembering dad. Tuesday, July 21, would have been Robin Williams’ 64th birthday, and his daughter, Zelda Williams, certainly did not forget. 

The aspiring actress, 25, took to Instagram the night before, posting a photograph of a beautiful, sunlit cloud, writing, “Kinda hoping I fly thru that very cloud on the way home.” 

Zelda, who has taken several previous hiatuses from social media, noted that she would be doing just that as the anniversary of her father’s death approaches.

“On another note, I will be taking a break from social media in the coming weeks,” she wrote. “It’s a time better served away from the opinions or sentiments of others, and I appreciate your understanding. In my absence, I understand there will be those who wish to leave messages regarding Dad on my board, but please attempt to be respectful and kind to one another in the process, both because I will not be here to delete or mediate trolling, and because kindness is in short supply these days anyhow Thanks guys. Buh-bye now!”

Zelda’s Oscar-winning father tragically ended his own life on Aug. 11, 2014, leaving behind both a legacy of beloved work and three children.

Zelda wasn’t the only one to remember Robin on his birthday. The actor’s Crazy Ones costar Sarah Michelle Gellar also shared a touching photo with her on-screen dad via Instagram, writing, “Smile, though your heart is aching Smile, even though it’s breaking Happy Birthday RW #RobinWilliams #HappyBirthdayRobin.”
